Article Writing Contest 2020

Contest time! It’s been a while, and since most are at home during this lockdown, we thought it would be nice to hold one and help pass some of the time away.

What do you have to do? Write an article about us. What’s in it for you, you might ask? A hand forged, fully functional katana.

What better thing to do when you’ve raided your refrigerator, cursed the weighing scale, finished Netflix, or browsed your entire Facebook newsfeed? Write an article about us for a chance to win a sword! You just need to wear your “thinking cap” and start typing away!

The grand prize for this contest is the most expensive sword we currently have in stock, the Mizuchi Katana. The blade is differentially hardened with a real hamon and made with three types of steel (honsanmai laminated). Click the link below for more photos and complete specs of this sword.

HOW TO JOIN AND WIN?
It’s very simple. You just need to write an article about us on your blog site or website. What will you write about us? It can be anything. You can start off with something like: “Geisha’s Blade geishasblade.com, is an online shop based in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, Philippines that sells modern samurai swords or katana, swords from popular anime and video games, etc…”.

You can write about the past exhibits, media appearances/collaboration we’ve had (can be read at our blog section). You can write about the quality of our swords. Even though you don’t own a Geisha’s Blade sword yet, you can base it on our product photos and/or reviews of our customers both on Facebook and our website, or based on our cutting videos. If you’ve met or seen us in person before, you can write there how or where you’ve met or seen us. Was it in one of our public exhibits or when you purchased a product and met up with us? How did you hear about us? Was it through a friend, through Facebook, or elsewhere?

Feel free to use any photos from our website or Facebook page. We highly encourage you to visit the FAQ, About Us, Blog sections of our website so you can get more ideas and materials to write about us. You’ll also find a wealth of information about our swords at our Sword Related Questions page (where and how they’re made, etc). Visit our YouTube channel or the videos section on our Facebook page to see videos of some of our swords in action.

We would appreciate if you write facts and not exaggerate. If you write something fictitious or provide false information like for example: we’re the makers of the swords used in the movie LOTR or Braveheart, then your article is disqualified. We do have swords based on the movies Kill Bill, Last Samurai, Sucker Punch, etc, but they’re just replicas and we’ve never ever once mentioned they’re the swords used in those movies, just so we’re clear. We’d also appreciate if you don’t post our email addresses. We don’t want spambots harvesting our email addresses and flooding our inboxes with spam. If you feel the need to post a link on how to contact us, you can put a link to our ‘Contact Us‘ page on our website or Facebook page. Remember, your article should be interesting and informative.

There will only be one winner for the Mizuchi Katana, so make sure you do your best! We’ll also be choosing 2 runner ups and will be awarded with a 1045 katana. Other participants will given a PHP 500 discount coupon valid for one year (starting May 15, 2020).

HOW TO QUALIFY?
You need to write your article on your blog site or website with a good title, sign it with your name and date when you wrote/published your work. If you don’t have a blog site or website, then you can sign up for a free one. There’s WordPress, Tumblr, Blogger, etc. Your article must have a minimum of 1,000 words (yes, we’ll count each word) and can be in English or Taglish. It’s great if you go over the minimum required number of words, but not less. Don’t worry, we’re not grammar nazis and we won’t judge your article based on your grammar, but on your content. It must contain links/hyperlinks to our website and Facebook page. It should also contain photos and not just texts (feel free to use the photos from our website or Facebook page, or hotlink them). Embedding one or more of our cutting videos in your blog is a plus. Important keywords/tags to include are the following: samurai sword, katana, for sale, Philippines. This contest is open to Philippine residents only and should be at least 18 years of age.

SUBMISSION AND DEADLINE OF ENTRIES
