Setsuhen Snowflake Katana v2

Setsuhen (Snowflake) – Because no two snowflakes have ever been found to be alike, they represent individuality, and their perfect geometric forms represent perfection. The snowflake is a very simple example of self-assembly. There is no blueprint or genetic code that guides the growth of a snowflake, yet marvelously complex structures appear, quite literally out of thin air. And this is what you can see on the Setsuhen Katana.

• Blade Material: 2nd Gen 1045 carbon steel (mono-steel)
• Edge: Fully-sharpened
• Treatment: Hand Forged, Through Hardened, Heat Treated & Tempered, Water Quenched
• Blade Length: 27.25 inches
• Tsuka: 11 inches wood
• Overall length w/o saya: 39.5 inches
• Saya: 29.5 inches wood, glossy white lacquered finish
• Tsuba: Iron
• Fuchi / Kashira: Zinc alloy
• Habaki / Seppa / Menuki: Brass
• Tsukaito: White leather
• Sageo: White synthetic silk
• Mekugi: 2 bamboo pegs
• Samegawa: Real ray skin panels
• Nakago: Full tang
• Hamon: Wirebrushed midare (irregular) pattern

• Specs may vary slightly from sword to sword
• Can be disassembled
• Includes cloth bag
• Packaging: carton box

The Setsuhen Katana is a perfect partner for our Setsuhen Wakizashi making them a daisho (paired set).

The video below shows the difference in flexibility between the 1st Generation and 2nd Generation. The 2nd Gen is more flexible like a 1060 blade.

More subtle wire brushed hamon which looks like a real hamon.

I purchased 1 Setsuhen Katana last 16 August ang I received it last 21 August. This is my 2nd purchase from Geisha’s Blade (the first being a Bannou Knife last May) but this is my first Katana. I haven’t tried cutting anything with it yet though it really is sharp and I fell in love with its beauty. Also, I tried disassembling it and its Nagako is marked with ‘芸者の刀’ (Geisha No Katana or Katana of the Geisha?). Thank you very much for this piece and looking forward to my next purchase.

Finally, after just 2 days from Manila, the magnificent Katana arrived here in Cavite! Haven’t tested it yet, but I know this is a good quality sword and definitely will try in the dojo next week. As a 5th dan (剣道家) kendōka, I will surely love to practice with this beauty! Next month will get the Wakizashi! Thanks boss Aldwin!
